Looking at Stars

Yesterday was "routine", if any days here are routine here in a tropical paradise. It started with a beautiful sunrise over the Indian Ocean. Note a boat below the Sun.

Some of the fishing boats were sailing.
Then at breakfast, a herd of African "Ankola" show cattle came along driven by a couple of men herding them with sticks.

Looking at Stars

The evening was reasonably clear, so after dinner, I set the telescope up on the roof of the Stella Maris. The students got a nice tour of the southern constellations, and Jupiter was showing itself off magnificently in the telescope. It was great weather, a gentle sea breeze, warm, but not hot, in the dark looking at stars.

What a great night!
